Description
by Arvind Bagga (Author), RN Srivastava (Author)
We are happy to present the seventh edition of Pediatric Nephrology. This book was first published in 1994, and the last revision was in 2016.
The initial editions aimed to fulfill the need for a short text to help pediatricians in Asia manage children with disorders of kidney and urinary tract, and orient those with greater commitment towards the field of nephrology. These editions were received with enthusiasm and led to gradual expansion of its contents. Thus, over three decades, the ‘handbook’ has grown from 229 pages to its present size of approximately 850 pages.
Over the past two decades the scientific basis and the practice of pediatric nephrology have grown rapidly. Major progress has been made towards clarifying the mechanisms of diseases particularly the genetic, immunological and molecular aspects. The present edition continues to address these mechanistic issues, but the emphasis remains on clinical diagnosis and therapies. Wherever available, the contributors and editors have tried to incorporate contemporary clinical practice guidelines, proposed by pediatric and adult nephrology organizations.
Chapters on congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract, fluid and electrolyte disorders, nephrotic syndrome, hematuria and proteinuria, glomerulonephritis, acute kidney injury, thrombotic microangiopathy, urinary tract infection, tubular and tubulointerstitial diseases, chronic kidney disease, kidney support therapy and transplantation have been rewritten. The annexures are updated. Normative clinic and ambulatory blood pressure data, and gene lists for important kidney and urological diseases are provided as dynamic annexures through QR codes. We are grateful to all contributors for their scholarly work and ensuring that the chapters continue to provide updated information that meets the learning needs of the readers.
We also providing high quality photomicrographs and illustrations.
For over three decades, Pediatric Nephrology has been a trusted resource for postgraduate teaching in the specialty. With contributions from more than 30 national and international experts, the 7th edition is thoroughly updated and expanded to ensure that the reader has access to the latest information on diagnoses and therapies. The book should be useful for pediatricians, pediatric nephrologists and urologists, and for trainees in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology.
