Microbiology and Parasitology: A Textbook and Laboratory Manual for the Health Sciences (Second Edition) is designed to help students of the health sciences understand medical microbiology and parasitology. Part I constitutes the textbook proper and covers and extensive range of topics on the subject matter, including, but not limited to taxonomy and characteristics of microorganisms and parasites, infectious and parasitic disease formation, microbial growth and control, methods of sterilization, antibiotics, host response to infection, and treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. Part II consist of laboratory exercises designed to reinforce the students' understanding of the specific concepts in microbiology and parasitology. It contains twenty exercises, the last few of which are cases that aim to develop clinical judgment in the students. Students of the health sciences are expected to do their share in educating the public. It is hoped that through this book, these students will be better equipped with necessary knowledge that will help them to promote health and awareness among the people.
