Visits with adolescents can provoke anxiety for primary care clinicians. Adolescence is a period of rapid growth and development and requires a changing approach to provide patient-centered and thoughtful care. Primary care clinicians must not only provide health maintenance for this patient population but also offer anticipatory guidance to promote health and diagnose and treat conditions that are often sensitive in nature.
